Every recorded cultural history has some ritual regarding the loss of baby teeth. Some threw them into a fire, some threw them over the house, some buried them, and some offered them as a “sacrifice” to mice or rats in hopes that the child’s teeth would grow in as strong as the rodents. The Tooth Fairy, and the rituals involved with her visit, is relatively new and has only been around since the early 20th Century. Still, in that time American families have come up with innumerable ways to mark the milestones of losing teeth. Not only are they sweet moments to recognize the steps your child is making towards being a big kid, it’s also a way to ease fears about loose teeth. That little reward can go a long ways towards making these transitions from little to big easier. Need some ideas for your little one? Here’s the ultimate list of Tooth Fairy ideas (and a giveaway if you share your own)!
