Almost nobody knows more about sleep deprivation than a new mom. Between the exhausting sleep (or not sleeping!) schedule of a newborn and the daily demands of life, a new mom is functioning on little more than fumes. Coffee can provide a quick pick-me-up, but it also paves the path for afternoon energy crashes. The right foods can give you the kick you need with nutrients that naturally increase energy in a more stable, even-keeled kind of way. Here are 10 easy, energy-boosting foods for new moms – easy recipes for drinks, snacks, and light meals that anyone can eat quickly during the day (or night).
Everyone knows that getting enough sleep while being the parent of a newborn is no easy task (impossible for most!). Far fewer of us can imagine those difficulties times two, or three, or even four! We empathize completely and try to do whatever we can to help all families sleep better. So, today we’re sharing 10 bedtime tips for parents of multiples from Cloud b advisors and sleep experts, Natalie Diaz (mother of twins and founder of Twiniversity) and Kim West (aka “The Sleep Lady”). Here are some of their tried and true recommendations.
After her 4 year-old son was diagnosed with brain cancer, Audra DiPadova Wilford founded the MaxLove Project to help children and their families thrive in the face of life-threatening conditions through whole body wellness resources, education and research. She’s worked tirelessly for her cause for the past few years and now she’s been recognized as a Woman of Worth by L’Oreal Paris and has a chance to win $25,000 to support her work. We’ve been longtime supporters of MaxLove and think the world of Audra, so we’re asking everyone we know to PLEASE take a minute to vote for her.
VOTE HERE (You can vote once daily through November 21st). Here’s more about Audra:
One of the first things Audra did after launching the MaxLove Project was partner with Cloud b to empower children fighting cancer with “Twilight Turtle,” a nightlight that helps soothe children when they’re in hospitals and other strange places. Today, many doctors prescribe the lights, which make them eligible to be covered by health insurance. She has also worked with dieticians to create personalized, cancer-fighting meal plans. MaxLove’s “Fierce Food Kids” helps build awareness around the connections between diet and overall wellness.
Audra also volunteers regularly for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, a MaxLove Project partner, since 2012. Through the organization she has shaved her head three times, bringing people together to raise more than $90,000 for pediatric cancer research.
“I am a passionate advocate for pediatric integrative medicine,” says Audra. “I believe that all kids deserve every opportunity, every tool, to thrive in critical care situations and beyond.”
PLEASE vote daily! And PLEASE spread the word to everyone you know! You can share this post on social media, email it to friends, write your own blog post (if you have a blog), shout it from a mountain top, do whatever works to help this amazing woman win!
